Christmas with Liz
So, we spent Christmas in Tokyo & Kamakura & Kyoto with Fiona's sister Liz. Here are some selected highlights from our trip...
Karaoke in Shinjuku on Christmas Night
Crazy cosplay girls (and boys) at Jingu-bashi, Tokyo
The giant Buddha (Daibutsu) at Kamakura. The temple holding it apparently washed away in a typhoon centuries ago, but the Buddha itself stands.
Kiyomizu-dera in Kyoto (at right) with sunset over the city.
Goodbye at the Shinkansen gate.

Dear Sam and Fiona
Its your younger cousin Andrew. Just thought I'd drop you guys a quick line..Happy New Year and all that Jazz.
Fiona - I caught up with your folks (in Khancoban) over the weekend and Pa of course...which was nice. I of course promised your mum that I'd warn you guys about Morocco....needless to say I'd warn you against going there as a couple of my very close friends have had some near death experiences there just recently. If you and Sam do decide to go, take extreme care and I'd also be travelling in a group with more than one male. Needless to say their view on females is a little backward..their view of other faiths is perhaps even less tolerant..
Anyway it looks and sounds as though you and Sam are having a great time in Japan...
All the best
Andrew
