Update on Fiona's Phone

For those who are aware of Fiona's "little problem", here's a recent photo of the state of things.

As antipodeans, we went to our first ever Halloween party - and won a prize for best couple costume. Guess which one is Sam.

Luxury Makes Everything Better

It's true. Turning 30 hurts. But, a night at a 5-star ryokan (traditional guest house) with a personal kimono-clad maid and a 10-course Japanese meal makes it allll worth it.

Happy 30th to Fiona! Yay! Stage One involved going out to dinner and cheesy karaoke in Nagoya with friends until the wee hours of the morning.

Cultural Thangs

In September, we did cultural, er, thangs like a cooking class and school bunkasais (culture festivals), including Fiona's shodo (calligraphy) display part II. Here's a selection.

Here's the initial ingredients for homemade tempura. We were informed it was incredibly healthy... because it's Japanese, and all Japanese food is healthy, right? Simple.

Fiona's bunkasai involved her dancing the Matsuken Samba (don't ask) with her teachers in yukata (summer kimono). There was also a display of pool prowess from the cool boys of class 2-6, and her calligraphy was once more on display.

Sam also had a bunkasai. This involved the English Club baking banana bread for reasons largely known unto themselves. Meanwhile, everyone else dressed up in costumes to give weird performances.
