Kitagawa-sensei's forest

This weekend we visited Kitagawa-sensei's home near Yokkaichi. His neighbourhood association owns a chunk of mountainside and forest in the Suzuka mountain range; they make regular trips to prune the trees, tidy up, and drink tea made from the mountain streams. Here he is, standing proudly amongst the cypresses he remembers planting as a schoolkid 40 years ago.
