Summer Homework

I asked my students to write a short composition over the summer holiday. They were asked to write a thank you note to a friend, teacher or parent. The first one to land on my desk today begins:
"Dear boyfriend,
Thank you for associating me and gently caressing me. . . . . .

That deserves a 9/10. I am so proud.

Endless Summer

The lack of recent posts should tip you off: we haven't been doing that much over the past few weeks. Summer holidays (for the schoolkids) are about to come to an end, which isn't all bad as it means that although we'll be teaching again, at least we won't be bored. The long humid summer heat also seems to be tailing off a little (touchwood).

We've been amusing ourselves with meeting new JETs here in Mie, farewelling some final stragglers, and furiously planning our remaining holidays. Incredibly, it would seem we've only 11 months left in Japan - which means packing in all the J-adventures we can, as well as a couple of overseas jaunts.

Watch this space.
